If you simplify a message, more people will understand it.
If you simplify a product, more people will use it.
If you simplify your writing, more people will understand it.
People who try to show you how complicated a situation is are often really trying to show you how smart they are.
Companies who introduce products that difficult to use, are giving competitors great opportunities.
Simple writing is often hard for the author, but it is easier for the reader.

I am sure millions of people will say this with me - finally! Microsoft’s MSN and Yahoo have come to an agreement that would allow users to send instant messages to each other. This is expected to be in place by June 2006, but hey, better late than never.
AOL’s instant-messaging product, AIM, had 51.5 million unique U.S. users in September, compared with about 27.3 million for MSN Messenger and 21.9 million for Yahoo’s Messenger, according to Nielsen/NetRatings. However, I believe most people outside the US use either MSN or Yahoo, and their ability to talk to each other can speak of volumes in terms of convenience. I have 2 sons, and unfortunately one uses MSN, while the other uses Yahoo. Some of our employees or customers use one or the other, and I have had always to boot both. More …
