Business Blogs to be Big
Administrator
Shel Israel, co-author of Robert Scoble, of the business blog book Naked Conversations, predicts that by 2006, the number of bloggers worldwide will exceed 150 million.
The areas of greatest growth in new blogs with large followings will be business and elected political officials. These two areas will eclipse, or nearly eclipse, the top category of technologists talking about technology. This will also make both businesses and politicians a tad more responsive to their constituencies, he believes.

I’ve been hearing this for a while, I started a blog recently mainly so I can have a place to communicate with my members without having to send numerous emails, but I have had enquires to my business from casual surfers and results searchers.
It’s nice to see a good business blog on BE, good work!

Thanks for the mention. Whereas 2006 is just a few weeks away, I should clarify that I predicted that number for the END of 2006, not the beginning.

Poldark Maximus (greetings from him btw) would wonder whether the Google business model is well served by 150 million blogs or in fact defeated. If a percentage of them carry Google ads such as yours, then one would buy the stock at whatever the price. But what then of Technorati, which finds itself in the middle of blogdom? Are they clever enough to leverage the search requirements implied in 150 million bloggers searching each other for content, kindred spirits, and love/respect?
Were PM at the Google helm he would acquire Technorati in a heart beat. Were he at the helm of Microsoft, he would redesign Internet Explorer to consider how to deal (as does Firefox) with the realities of blogdom. NOW. Thanks and great Blog, Poldark Maximus
