I just saw this quote, ” Old golfers never die - they simply lose their drive.” Well, that’s the point. Entrepreneurs, just like golfers, will stop winning when they lose their drive.

Which is Better?

I was exchanging mails with a friend. She sent me an email at 9 in the evening and I replied almost immediately. She asks, ” Wow, you still working?”.

I said, “yes, I’m working. I am not only part of this grand conspiracy of enabling people to work longer hours by giving them the tools to work anytime, anywhere, but I’m a victim as well. ”

She replied back, ” I’m checking my emails, because it is better to wait till the traffic thins before going home.”

I thought about her dilemma of having to commute to and from work daily, and my own dilemma, and answered back, ” Gee, working anytime, anywhere may not be so bad after all.”

Maybe even if you work longer, at least you work whereever, whenever. Maybe even in traffic … if you’re not driving. I always thought it is less stressful to work hard than to fret in traffic.

The End of PCs

Ever since I started getting hooked to personal computers back in 1984, I’ve spent a few hours a day with the machine. That means I must have already logged in tens of thousands of hours with the PC. Reports say that there are now over 885 million computers worldwide, and more than 220 million will be sold next year. However, there are now also well over a billion cell phones, a hundred million PS2s, 50 million ipods.

Some ( like Ray Ozzie, chief software architect of Microsoft) say the end of the PCs is near. I wonder how the future looks like.

read this in businessweek:

Family businesses tend to be more profitable and grow faster in revenue and employment than non-family companies, claims a new study in Family Business Review. The study, conducted by Jim Lee, a professor at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi, found that the average profit margin for family firms was 10%, or 2% higher than nonfamily companies. The study measured the financial performance of companies during the 1992 to 2002 period.
