I was discussing the following concept on Entrepreneurship with the group:
Entrepreneurs and creative people have a difficult time accepting have-to’s.
It suddenly occured to me that most of the things we do are either things we want to do, or things we have to do.
And happiness/fulfillment depends on the balance of the two.
If you let too much WANT-TO hold sway, then you are not fulfilling your obligations as part of society, and letting your desires or ambitions hold too much sway.
If you let too much HAVE-TO get into the way, and if your work is a series of obligations where you live like a martyr, you will also not be fulfilled, since you have not let your dreams or passions or vision of life take hold.
I believe that success is balancing the two.

Do things 2 or 4 seconds longer, and you will be history. Google also says that if they do search half a second longer, many people conduct few searches.

YouTube succeeded where Google Video didn’t because users were able to see their videos posted immediately, Google executive Marissa Mayer said at the Web 2.0 Summit here on Thursday.
By contrast, people posting to Google Video had to wait anywhere from
two to four days for the video to be vetted and posted for public
consumption, Mayer said.

I have been looking at the various things Amazon did since Jeff again made the cover of Time. What he is doing is obviously very interesting … the way to market I believe is to offer something very simple, very affordable, and very compelling.
Jeff Bezos at Web 2.0 Summit
Day 2 at the Web 2.0 Summit and Jeff Bezos is on stage, talking about S3 and EC2. He says “we’re a small company with big ideas”, but they’ve been surprised at the level of interest in these services. He thinks people are excited because they can see a future where you can go from idea to implementation very quickly - and that it’s very empowering. So Amazon is taking care of the ‘heavy lifting’, which they call “muck”. He notes that it’s a continuous loop. He says 70% of energy and dollars in web app development by people is in this heavy lifting, so Amazon wants to solve that. He ends with: “we make muck, so you don’t have to”.

This is a debate whether a home based backup is a better alternative, or whether it is about time online backups should be considered. Overall, bandwidth, and cost have been going down, and I believe it will be a matter of time when access to the internet, or direct to your own machine will be seamless and unnoticeable.

I’m not particularly sure how this service would go into the market. Maybe they foresee that more and more people will be sending videos over email ( just like we send more and more photos now). But maybe people won’t get a new account just for that, and when that becomes popular, existing email providers would probably be able to do same.
Gabmail’s Free Video Email - Mashable!
Gabmail, which announced its beta launch at the end of last week, is a new service that offers free video email - it’s an early release from Arizona-based Gabsight, who plan to launch their full product at Gabsight.com later this month.
