I write long thoughts in my blog ,humorous observations in eNGy ,short observations in Twitter.

I read various articles, mainly tech news, humor/politics ( they are not much different, are they?), and business news.  When I like it, I tag it as select news to remember, and classify it according to: BizNews, Tech, Mobile Tech/Gadgets, Soft Dev/Outsourcing, and Humor/Offbeat news.

Managing your Indulgence

Everyone of us have our own indulgences, or weaknesses.  Some of us slept too much or too little, some worry too much, some eat too much.  These are things that we think we should control better but we somehow can’t.  It is a battle between the mind and the heart - the mind knows certain things are not to be, or you should not be doing certain things, but the heart insists.

Maybe we should not watch too much tv, but we do.  Maybe we should exercise more, but it seems more difficult for some of us to do it than others.
These indulgences can detract us from what we really want to accomplish.  Of course, we try to control them but we can’t.  We read that the way to nirvana is to control these ‘desires’, and I even read  of the late Mohandas Gandhi where he tried to gain control of his desires showing himself that he cannot be tempted even when put in a room full of scantily clad women, but for most of us, that amount of control is not in our powers to resist.
We cannot turn our backs totally to this, and unrestrained, it can cause an imbalance in your life.  However, we cannot also try to give in totally.  So I guess to a certain extent, being successful in life is knowing that  we have to strive that balance where we manage our indulgences well.  What do you think?

I perfectly agree with you on this Sir! Managing our indulgences is a matter of striking a balance. Although I do believe that it wont be so easy to maintain that balance, at least doing our best to strike it is already worthwhile… Sometimes reality check through the circumstances and the people around us, will already tell if we have gone too far or too less…

tnx for ur blogs… :-) kp up!
