Here’s an excellent post on Strategy Execution

Be Excellent®: Changing The Way You Think About Strategy Execution

What most business leaders think is their greatest challenge — really isn’t. All business leaders face new challenges each day and are tempted to think of the latest problem at hand as their “biggest.” No matter what the problems are today, however, they’ll be different tomorrow and they will be bigger.

There is one business problem that, if solved, makes solving all other problems easier.

Knowing how to plan and execute, while overcoming “today’s surprises,” is the most foundational capability any organization can have.

The inability to do this is the problem that business leaders must solve. With the capability to execute continuously, you gain control of your business. Without it, your business will be relegated to a reactive, firefighting existence.

Sometimes we Just Never Know

Have you ever had the experience of saying, " why am i trying so hard at something I’m not good at, when i can be very good at another thing?"

I once had one person who was very good in communicating and sales, yet all her life she wanted to be a programmer, something she was NOT good at.

I don’t know how good I am as a businessman… I don’t like socials, and meetings bore me. I do like to study, and analyze, and I’m sure

my inclination would have been to be a scholar — if only it pays well. I guess i have been conditioned since young, that being an entrepreneur was the way to go.

Anyhow, I have blogged for 4 years, and I have written a weekly technology article for our papers for 14 years. I like to write, and I analyze, but while I do have a good following, I somehow was thinking maybe I would be good at something else….

I like music. I like art…. A few months ago, i decided i would indulge myself to learn how to paint, and go back to piano…. I dreamt of myself painting landscapes, and drawing caricatures and portraits for my friends. After a while, I decided it was not my thing — i like to draw, but didn’t have the time — serious art demands some amount of dedication.

I decided to get an artist to pair with me, and soon we were coming out with good toons, and our website was getting some good traffic. Now, this week, I am pretty excited…. our toon book will finally be published and released.

For somebody whose ambitions to be a scholar and writer ( and after writing hundreds of articles and blog posts), my first book is a …. toon jokebook!

i am sure my classmates, and my colleagues would be surprised — I , a normally serious manager, and humorless person is trying to make a wave as a … joker.

i guess you never know…. We will know if the book sells…. we printed an initial 3,000 copies, but I think I have enough friends and customers to give it to, that it won’t be a problem…. The acid test will come when they will pay for the second book….

Anyhow, please do visit the website, and if you want to see my book ( it is available as an e-book) for free for a limited time. Check it out and download it here….
