How am I doing in my Social Network?

However, for the last few
years, although not consistently, I have been logging into www.ecademy.com ( this is a business network
based in the UK), and have since made about over 150 friends.
  My Ecademy profile.

I also have an account in Facebook (www.facebook.com) which is the current
favorite, and have amassed about 165 friends.
Facebook currently is considered the fastest growing social network, and
is said to already have over 60 million members.  For most of the time, though, if you are a businessman, or a
professional, the network that you may want to look into is www.linkedin.com .  It does not have any frills, and is very
straightforward, and all it does really is keep your professional information
for others to see.  It is said to have
over 20 million members, but is valuable since it does not have students, or
people who just want to make noise.  I
currently have about 270 contacts there
.

I am also starting to look
at youTube.
  As somebody who rather
would spend time reading than watch TV, or movies, YouTube was not a choice as
of course, you need to spend a lot of time to go through a video.  I also originally felt, quite wrongly, that
since we can post the video into our own website, why bother to post it to
YouTube?  Well, I found out that there
is a reason you post it into YouTube – it is where the traffic is, and it is
where people go to look for videos.

The other day, I finally
posted some videos into it – and it was about our high school reunion, and I
was surprised. First, it is very easy to use, and second, after
posting, and informing our batchmates on it,
it got over 60 views within one day.
The video you post is also very easy to pull into your website or blog,
and of course, youTube takes care of the bandwidth problems to make sure that
there is enough bandwidth to make viewing it a nice experience.

I am also checking out new
social network sites for writers and book readers, and among the two that I
find most interesting is www.goodreads.com
and www.librarything.com . In both
cases, I found out that the joy of reading is not only just read and read, but
your understanding and enjoyment of a book can be immensely increase if you
actively debate and share your understanding to other similar interested folks.
