It was supposed to be a guarantee of success.
The world’s biggest mall, in the world’s most vibrant region - the Pearl River Delta, in the world’s fastest growing economy hosting the world’s most populous region… but sometimes, everything can be right, and it still didn’t work…
Mall of misfortune - The National Newspaper
The big attraction of the South China Mall was supposed to be its “foreign” design. Learning from Las Vegas, where replicas of European monuments and New York landmarks draw throngs of tourists, the Dongguan mall modeled seven zones after various exotic world locations. Its rooftops reflect at least twenty different influences, from Czech town halls to Turkish mosques.

Cheap PC gadget for Internet calls selling well - Yahoo! News
It’s not Verizon Communications Inc. or AT&T Inc. — they’re losing lines. What about cable company Comcast Corp., which is raking in subscribers for its phone service? Even that company is being beaten by a small Palm Beach, Fla., company called YMax Corp., judging by its own figures.
You may never have heard of YMax, but you may have noticed the TV ads for its product, the MagicJack, which works with a broadband connection.
It’s about the size of a matchbox and plugs into a PC. After plugging a regular phone into the MagicJack, the user can make and receive calls much like using a regular landline.

According the International Energy Agency's (IEA) World Energy Outlook 2007 report, the increase in China's energy demand between 2002 and 2005 was equivalent to Japan's total annual energy consumption in 2005.
China's National Bureau of Statistics has forecasted total power consumption of 3.7 trillion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in 2008, up 14% from 2007. By 2010, consumption is expected to hit 4.5 trillion kWh.
the IEA expects China to invest US$1.5 trillion in transmission and distribution between 2006 and 2030, 54.6% of the country's total expected investment in power—US$2.74 trillion—over that period.

Branding is about getting your prospects to perceive you as the only solution to their problem. Once you're perceived as 'the only,' there's no place else to shop. Which means your customers gladly pay a premium for your brand.

This is a note that says Know your market.
Blackberry should fight on its strengths not on the strength of Apple… It should know where its attractiveness and battles are — the last thing a Blackberry should do is to be cool!

It could well be argued that maybe CE”O pay could well be recession proof. The top CEO getting the most pay — John Thain of Merill Lynch who took over on Dec 1, 2007, and had a $83 million pay package. This amount was deemed necessary to lure him to Merill Lynch as it was suffering its worst ever losses.
Half o the 10 best paid CEO were leading companies whose profits shrank dramatically.
Another stat- Rick Wagoner, General Motors CEO had GM posting a $39 billion loss in 2007, while his pay rose 64 percent to $15.7 million.
KB Home lost $930 million in 2007, but its CEO, made $24.4 million.
As the American economy slowed to a crawl and stockholders watched their money evaporate, CEO pay still chugged to yet more dizzying heights last year, an Associated Press analysis shows.
