The good news and the bad news about technology is that there are always great websites that makes us wastes time every week!
An entertaining site is the FAIL blog ,which you can gleam from http://failblog.org. I shows various kinds of failed endeavors, and it is entertaining and hilarious. When I chanced upon it, it was a straightforward simple blog, but now people can now tag, dig, and do all kinds of things. Based on the comments there, it is a very popular blog, and it also has now lots of ads.
There are now many copycats of this, and one of them which is also entertaining is at http://mediaeater.tumblr.com/ which dubs itself as the original, first fail blog..

Protester tosses eggs at Ballmer
Steve Ballmer is accustomed to audiences tossing difficult questions in his direction. Eggs are a different matter entirely.
Microsoft’s CEO was forced to take cover behind a desk Monday during an appearance at a university in Budapest, Hungary, when a man in the audience interrupted to protest — and then threw three eggs at Ballmer.

I am pleased that very soon, my second humor book will be coming out.
The first book has a subtitle ” Business is a Joke, and we can prove
it”. Our second book subtitle is ” Technology Creates Morons, and we
can Powerpoint it.”

Look forward to the same irreverent humor in the workplace.

Next week, we are anticipating the first eNGy Business humor Cartoons to be released.
This is an initial 72 pages of humor, and our first print run of 3,000 copies will be mainly given out to customers, friends and partners, as well as to be sold in our own retail stores.
Here is the front cover.

If we don’t get overwhelmed by work, and continue to see humor amidst all the seriousness in the office, we are hoping that Book 2 will be coming out by June 2008….

The last three months, i have been pretty much occupied in trying to be ‘funny’. This is in line with my thinking of going into the Blue Ocean Strategy. Do something other people are not doing. Take the Road Less Travelled. So instead of funneling resources to usual marketing, we decided to use it to sponsor our own Toons which when popular, will help also create our company brand.
It has been a great learning experience, and I want to share some of my reflections, as well as answer some questions. Launching a brand ( humorous at that) is like any business venture and I would like to relate some of the things i learned to the general business.
Why call it eNGy?
Its a branding initiative. Last 2005, we decided to launch a computer chain store which we called NGenius. NGenius ( which is a play of my family name) was a unique name, and it is a word that means innovation, solution to a problem, being cool! Our slogan became “Its NGenius! The Latest word for cool! ” as the stores were predominantly selling gadgets for the new generation.

I heard a quote and a joke on an entrepreneurship seminar and thought it worthwhile to share here.
“The bottleneck is always at the top of the bottle“. This was purportedly a quote from Peter Drucker, and illustrates that it is the CEOs responsibility to prepare the talents and the skills of the company to do battle. More often than not, the failure of the company to seize opportunities, or to grow may be due to the limitations of the CEO in not laying the proper groundwork for the company.
While acknowledging that the CEO has this responsibility though, it is important to note that we are all human, and nobody is God, and it is not right to put into the CEO God-like or perfect expectations in anticipating and planning for everything.
This joke is a dig on old wisdom….
An ancient Greek philosopher once was said to write, ” It is not the man who has little but the man who craves more who is poor.”
This saying underlies the need to be satisfied and content, and lays the groundwork for our next joke.
“Who is richer, the man with ten children, or the man with $10 million.”
” The man with 10 Children.”
“Why?”
“Because the man with 10 children doesn’t want any more!”

This is a great joke, but most important, it is a joke that highlights a human frailty, and how to overcome it.
I think Great jokes not only make us feel good, but it also makes us think…. in this case what did the old man do so that he would accomplish his objectives?
Comedy Central – The Wise Old Man
A wise old gentleman retired and purchased a modest home near a junior high school. He spent the first few weeks of his retirement in peace and contentment. Then a new school year began. The very next afternoon three young boys, full of youthful, after-school enthusiasm, came down his street, beating merrily on every trash can they encountered. The crashing percussion continued day after day, until finally the wise old man decided it was time to take some action….

Somebody just sent me a photo of this. What do you think?
Do you think it is an original, or an edited picture?
