Hewlett-Packard has started selling an 18-inch entertainment notebook that comes standard with a TV tuner, Blu-ray drive, and high-definition screen. The HDX 18T Premium series notebook comes with a Blu-ray drive, a 1,080p high-definition screen, and an HDMI 1.3 port for connecting the machine to an external digital TV monitor
As of Thursday, the HDX 18T Premium series notebook was available only online with a starting price of $1,550. The desktop replacement PC ships with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium.

Microsoft’s cancelled the Jerry Seinfeld ads. I kind of like them…. but I guess the next ones are pretty much easier to understand and also more exciting.
It talks about “I’m a Pc! ” and tries to prevent the stereotype. It shows that there are many different kinds of people who use the PC doing incredibly different things. After all, over a billion people use Windows, and it IS time to show that they are not all forty something nerds with eyeglasses who are not creative or exciting.

The single life for Atom is over–or at least one version. Intel said
it has begun shipments of the first dual-core version of the Atom
processor.
The power-efficient processor will be targeted at Atom-based
desktops called nettops. Currently, Intel offers the single-core Atom
N230 processor for this category of small desktops.

Microsoft and Cray are set to unveil on September 16 the Cray CX1, a compact supercomputer running Windows HPC Server 2008.
The pair is expected to tout the new offering as “the most affordable supercomputer Cray has ever offered,” with pricing starting at $25,000.
