Evolution of Cisco.com

A transformation is occurring on the Web. The end user is more in charge, creating collaborative websites and blogs, generating, mixing and sharing content, and having more of a say in how companies do business with them. The potential of the Internet is being fulfilled by more than the physical network alone, it is the human network where people are connecting and collaborating, enabling ideas and opportunities. This represents an ideal time for Cisco to transform their website, into a platform for collaboration, interaction and innovation.

Today is their first step. They’re launching a “new face” for Cisco.com with a redesigned home page, new framework, and innovative features including

  • Homepage navigation that simplifies finding information.
  • A rotating spotlight area showcasing Cisco solutions.
  • A new Solutions area that provides business-oriented information about the latest Cisco technologies.
  • A featured product area, linking to 360-degree product views.
  • Video data sheets demonstrating product features.
  • Customer reviews of products.
  • Contextual product forums where customers participate in ongoing discussions.
  • Podcasts featuring stories of people using Internet technologies.
  • RSS feeds to keep you up-to-date on new product announcements.
  • Click-to-chat capability so you can instant message with a Cisco representative.
  • A version of the site for mobile devices.
  • And most noticeably, a new logo, optimized for today’s smaller communications devices.
