Intel’s 65nm chips are still going strong especially here in the Philippines, with the Q6600 starting to turn into a mainstream option for some shoppers wanting a bit more zing for their buck. If you’re looking into buying a new computer based around an Intel chip, I’d advise you to pause and join us as we take a look at a sample of the newest 45nm Intel product: the “Wolfdale” E8500.

The E8000 series is Intel’s “mainstream” CPU based on the 45nm process. It is the more affordable counterpart of Intel’s Q9650 Extreme that was meant for the enthusiast pocket. Just for clarification, the code name “Wolfdale” is specifically for the dual-core, desktop implementation of the 45nm process; “Penryn” on the other hand refers to the complete line of 45nm process chips that will be superseding the “Conroe” 65nm based CPUs. For now, we will explore the technical side of the chip, as compared to the previous Intel generation of popular mainstream processors. Read More.

Intel Classmate popular in test schools
KUALA LUMPUR: A pilot project involving 10 public schools in the peninsula to test the benefits of providing students with low-cost portable computers scored high marks among the teachers and children. An evaluation report said 85% of the teachers in the test schools found the programme allowed them to better create an innovative and collaborative e-learning environment in the classroom. It said the teachers also reported that the laptop computers – called the Classmate PC and provided by chipmaker Intel Corp – helped the children open up during question-and-answer lessons, as well as encouraged closer student-teacher relationships.

One thing that catches my eyes is Asus EEE PC. Ok, it runs Linux, but i hear Linux is very similar to Microsoft and runs virtually the same - would i be right? I personally have never used linux, but its free, and people have said its a good operating system. Now, Asus released its thin laptop with 2GB of memory for only P15,990.Whew that’s pretty cool and so affordable!
What do you think of this little notebook? It has reasonable specs, I hope i can get it someday, for notes and stuff, and also to sit in bed with and browse the internet. Haha.
If you could give your opinions and reviews, that would be great. Take note, it’s now available at your leading IT store or simply visit NGenius IT Hub or NG Khai! Order TODAY! Give us a call at (32)346-2926/ (32)412-0068/232-5355/415-8088/232-4546.

Intel Corp’s Silverthorne and Diamondville chips will be called Atom, and the company’s Menlow processor for ultramobile computers will be renamed Centrino Atom when these products hit the market, according to a company spokesman.
The creation of the new processor brand sets the stage for the tiny, low-power chips’ upcoming release and marks the opening salvo in a concerted push by Intel to make ultramobile computers a mainstream product segment.
Several versions of the Atom processor are on track to be delivered to during the first half of this year, according to Danny Cheung, an Intel spokesman in Singapore. The processors are made using Intel’s 45-nanometer processors and will run at clock speeds up to 1.8 GHz. Slower versions will also be available, but Intel isn’t saying what the slowest clock speed will be. Pricing for the chips has yet to be announced. (read more…)
