HP will offer a 3-year battery warranty for notebooks starting 2009.

The announcement was made Wednesday by Boston-Power, a supplier of
lithium-ion batteries that will sell its Sonata battery to
Hewlett-Packard. Representatives from both HP and Boston-Power declined
to divulge many details on the relationship, primarily as B-P is a
startup company, ramping production to meet the demands of its first
customer.

A representative from HP said that the company will make the Sonata
battery available on some mainstream consumer notebooks, without
specifying which models. HP’s commercial notebook division is “looking

The Hewlett-Packard Company posted a higher quarterly profit, helped by
cost cuts and its acquisition of Electronic Data Systems, which lifted
revenue from computer services. More

for the quarter ended Oct. 31, HP reported a 2% jump in revenue to
$33.6 billion, excluding the acquisition of services company EDS and
including currency adjustments. If EDS revenue is included, then sales
were up 16% from the same period a year ago.

Hewlett-Packard has started selling an 18-inch entertainment notebook that comes standard with a TV tuner, Blu-ray drive, and high-definition screen. The HDX 18T Premium series notebook comes with a Blu-ray drive, a 1,080p high-definition screen, and an HDMI 1.3 port for connecting the machine to an external digital TV monitor

As of Thursday, the HDX 18T Premium series notebook was available only online with a starting price of $1,550. The desktop replacement PC ships with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium.
