Singer
Do you know that the Cebuanos produce more world boxing champions than any other ethnic groups in the Philippines? Let me refresh your memories. One of the all time greats in the Junior Lightweight division was the legendary Gabriel “Flash” Elorde. The string of World Champions that followed were Bernabe Villacampo, Frank Cedeno, Dodie Boy Penalosa, Jerry Penalosa and Joma Gamboa.

The Cebuanos also produce the best singers and musicians in this archipelago. We are all familiar with names like Pilita Corrales, Amapola Cabase, Dulce, Eva Santos, Vernie Varga, Manilyn Reynes, Vina Morales, Chad Borja, Ray-an Fuentes, Stax Hugete, Ingrid Sala Santamaria - the list is almost endless. This is a testament to the artistry and creativity and the passion to excel that is deeply ingrained in the genetic code of every Cebuano.

We are a unique people blessed by the Sto. Nino. We have lesser typhoons, lower crime rate, less traffic jams and virtually no earthquakes. Our artisans are world-class and we have the best furniture makers, the best gun makers, the best guitar makers, and the best delicacies, etc., etc. (source:vizvoyz)

Mandaue To Work With Call Centers

Friday, September 2nd, 2005

One of the problems that the call center industry in the province faces today is the apparent shortage of qualified applicants for the job being applied for. Having a college diploma and good grades are not sufficient enough. Communication skill and language proficiency are of paramount importance to those who wish to apply for eRep position.

Aware of this shortcoming, the Mandaue City government will work with Cebu City-based call centers to come up with a crash course on communication skills for would-be eReps. With this novel idea, the city government of Mandaue hopes that the proposed communication skills training program will help address the growing demand for call center workers.

CCCI To Revive Cebu Retailers Association

Friday, September 2nd, 2005

To further strengthen the retail industry in Cebu, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) will revive the Cebu Retailers Association which has been inactive for some time.

Due to the booming retail business in Cebu and the influx of retailers from different parts of the country and abroad, CCCI President Robert L. Go said that there is a need to help these retailers, especially the small ones, to compete with the big ones who have driven some established domestic players to bankruptcy.

He said that he plans to organize these small retailer operators for them to have a good chance in surviving the dog-eat-dog competition in the retail industry which is one of Cebu’s major contributors to its booming economy.
