Orange juiceIf the company gains recognition from a prestigious national award-giving body after long years into the business, most people think it is but natural to acknowledge the fruit of its labor. But what about a company who is barely a year old into the business and already reaps award?

Is it worked hard for? Did they belabor themselves in order to get the award? Or simply good luck?

If you didn’t lock up yourself inside a cellar or maybe bedridden for the past months, chances are, you got a chance to take notice, if you ever ventured outside the comfort of your abode, of that ubiquitous 5-gallon container with orange liquid inside, placed upside down on a dispenser almost everywhere in the metro.

Stephen Sy Gaisano Conferred ‘Honoris Causa’

Stephen Sy Gaisano, the lone survivor of the famous Gaisano brothers, will be honored this year by the University of San Carlos by conferring him the degree in humanities, honoris causa.

Yes, it’s true that Stephen has an entrepreneural skill few businessmen can match with the successful retail business he helped to flourish for years, the Gaisano stores in Cebu and other parts of the Visayas and Mindanao. He helped made Gaisano a household name in these parts of the country. He somehow helped the local economies of these areas ticking and helped improved the lives of these communities. But the conferment he is about to receive from the prestigious learning institution is not about his entrepreneural skill, but his philanthropic deeds.
