Cebuano No. 1 in Mechanical Engineering Board Exam

Cebuano Carl Bryan Go Taguiam placed first in the board exam given by the Members of the Board of Mechanical Engineering this October 2005. Taguiam graduated magna cum laude and obtained his bachelor’s degree at the University of San Carlos last March 2005. He is as well a recipient of one of the the top ten outstanding graduate awardee.

Another Cebuano who made it to the top ten are Genri Solano Belarmino of the University of Cebu placing sixth 6th and Jonas Marco Villanueva Quinones of the University of San Carlos placing 7th.

Oath taking in Cebu is said to be on November 26, 2005, Saturday @ the Grand Convetion Center in Cebu along Archbishop Reyes Street in Banilad.

Former Drug Addict Finds Freedom at Talavera Prayer House

” I wondered why my pencil case was lost. I later found out she used it to hide drugs”, Sheila (name withheld) said, referring to her mother.

Sheila was eight when she started to notice her mother acting oddly. Her parents quarrelled all the time. Her father had caught her mother taking prohibited drugs.

Her mother was not the only one in the family who got addicted to drugs. She was hooked too.

She said she started taking drugs when she was 13. She was then living in Cagayan de Oro City. Her friends introduced her to shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), an addictive stimulant that has toxic effects on the central nervous system. She told herself that if her mother could do it, why couldn’t she. It started with drinking sessions with her friends that turned into long nights of drugging. They would gather their money to buy shabu, also known as speed, chald, glass, ice, and crystal.

Cebu movie wows Tokyo

JOMARI YLLANA AND JEFFREY JETURIAN, lead actor and director of the movie “Minsan Pa” (One Moment More), were the country’s representatives to the 18th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF).

The film fest kicked off on Saturday with a lavish red carpet ceremony at the Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, Japan.

“It was a great feeling to represent the country and speak on its behalf,” the movie’s producer, lawyer Joji Alonso, told Inquirer Entertainment yesterday. “We took the opportunity of inviting everyone to visit the Philippines, especially Cebu.”
