Just before the main event could start and even before the mammoth crowd composed mostly of local fans could see them strut their stuff on the dance floor, the tandem of Michael Mendoza and Belinda Adora – and the rest of the Philippine team were predicted to sweep all the golds at stake for the said event.

And they were right. The huge crowd inside the cavernous Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel exploded in ecstatic roar as the gold winners were announced.

Michael Mendoza and Belinda Adora, the Cebuano tandem of Team Cebu City’s Dancesports squad – snatched the gold in the Latin American category while the other Cebuano duo Dearlie Gerodias and her partner Errol Melencio aced the silver in the same event. The outclassed Thai pair Suaseepun Watchahakorn and Warapa Jumbala bagged the bronze.

The other Philippine pairs of Rico Rosima and Filomena Salvador, bested eight other couples in clinching the top medal of the Modern Standard category while Emmanuel Reyes and Maira Rosete copped the silver. Pawatpong Racha-apai and Potimu Chanawan, also from Thailand, bagged the bronze.
