Pencak Silat is a form of martial art whose origin is uncertain but it is widely known across the Southeast Asian region or the Malay world, most notably in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and Singapore. It has not gained widespread popularity in Thailand and the Philippines though. It made its debut as a competitive sport in the SEA Games in the game’s 22nd edition in Vietnam in 2003.
