Cebu Ready To Host Big International Sports Events
Wednesday, December 7th, 2005Cebu has proven it. The organizers of the recently concluded SEAG events in Cebu, thus said. And almost everybody seems to agree. Although there were minor kinks spotted in the hosting of the SEAG events here in Cebu, most of us can safely say that we are now ready to host much bigger events that will draw tourists to our islands, ranked as one of the top 50 islands in the world in Conde Nast’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards.
I can see the potential of sports tourism to be Cebu’s next big thing as a tourist drawer in the coming years if we work hard for it. Yes, aside from the traditional main entree - sea, sun, and sand - that draw mostly holidaymakers, we can also add another ’s’ to our menu - SPORT - that draw sports afficionados, which are a bigger market.
