With its current number of call centers and medical transcription centers, Cebu is poised to become the next hub for BPO in the country next to Manila. With more companies, local and international alike, planning to branch out in Cebu in the near future, more workers will be seeing themselves earning money during the night.

No, I don’t mean the red light district workers. They may call themselves call girls or call boys but call centers need verbal intercourse with its clients from around the world and only e-Reps, as they call themselves, can communicate with absolute panache and sobriety.

Libertad Gas Find In Cebu Declared Commercial

Forum Energy plc, the AIM-quoted UK energy group with gas, oil and coal assets in the Philippines, has tied up with the Philippines’ Department of Energy to explore and develop the Libertad gas field in northern Cebu, some 100 kilometers from Cebu City.

The joint exploration was proven fruitful as they found out that the gas was indeed commercial. This is good news to the Cebuano people who have been paying high cost of their electricity consumption for so many years now. Cebu has sourced its electricity from neighboring islands, Negros and Leyte, hence the high cost.

This is the second gas find of commercial value in the country following the offshore gas field development in Malampaya in Batangas which is developed by Shell Corporation and came onstream in 2001.
