Christmas Cards For Cebu’s Sustenable Water Resource
Friday, December 16th, 2005Everybody is invited to a unique art exhibit going on at the Ayala Center Cebu upper ground floor. The exhibit is a collection of 20 winning entries of the annual Christmas Card Design Contest sponsored by the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP). The exhibit runs only for three days which means it will end tomorrow, a Saturday, December 17, 2005.
The exhibit is a venue to give the public general awareness in the preservation of the watershed areas by supporting the reforestation of Cebu City’s protected watersheds, the Mananga and Kotkot-Lusaran, two of Central Cebu ’s mountain barangays. It also aims to generate and mobilize funds for the conservation of these areas which are a vital water resource to the city of Cebu .
The conservation of these watersheds is necessary to ensure the sustainability of Metro Cebu’s water resource and to prevent flooding in the urban areas.
Since the start of the campaign, PBSP has conducted photography and art competitions to produce the Christmas card designs.

The Pari-an district used to have the annual ‘Pasko sa Karaang Pari-an’ (Christmas in Old Pari-an) during the nine-day Christmas novena which is the re-enactment of Three Kings on camels visiting the town of Bethlehem where baby Jesus was born in a manger. The yearly yuletide activity just ceased to exist many years ago and it went into oblivion for quite some time already until now.
We, Filipinos, have a high regard for our lola. And for a good reason. Our lola would always come to our rescue whenever we get scolded or reprimanded by our parents. She sings us a lullaby. Our lola is our source of solace and comfort. She is the epitome of an unconditional love.
