Citylights Gardens are a cluster of 4 residential condominium towers nestled atop Busay Hills in Lahug, commanding a panoramic view over the Cebu City skyline and its environs.
The first phase, which consisted of the first two 16-story towers, was finished in 2000 and was already sold out. Mantalongon is one of the hinterland barangays in Dalaguete, a town in the southeastern seaboard of Cebu. It borders on the west with the town of Badian. It is famous for its cash crop growing owing to its cool temperate climate that is pervasive all year round earning for her a monicker ‘the vegetable basket of Cebu‘.
In a fitting move to make it official, the Cebu Provincial Board recently approved unanimously a resolution that seeks to declare Mantalongon summer capital of Cebu. The town officials can’t be more than happy to see one of their most prosperous barangays officially declared the Summer Capital of Cebu.

Since I arrived in Cebu to work more than a decade ago, I never had a chance to see the southern portion of the province until two weeks ago.
When I first set foot on this magical island, I was already mystified by the sheer number of monickers attributed to Cebu . Some are too good to be true, yet most are too real to be imagined as I eventually found out. That Cebu is indeed a beautiful tropical island. That it is a cosmopolitan urban center. That it is a place of many superlatives.

For years, most public school students don’t have access to quality international reading materials that would boost their reading comprehension with the English language. That would change very soon.
The local government of Cebu, in cooperation with the Department of Education Region 7 and Reader’s Digest International, is spearheading a reading program to all public schools across the province in the hope of averting the decline of reading proficiency of English language among its students.
The program’s vision is to boost the English proficiency of the students in the public schools all over Cebu and help their reading comprehension in English language. Thus, it will help them prepare for future endeavours that require them to use the language more effectively and raise their chances in landing a decent job when they graduate from college.

Gone are the days when mothers worry about leaving their toddlers at home in the care of their maids whose responsibility covers everything in the house from washing to cooking, from baby sitting to fetching children from school.
The Cebu Provincial Government is putting up a child care center that will surely gladden many mothers working in the capitol. When fully implemented, the center will have chairs and tables as a typical nursery school but without teachers. It is not a school so teachers are not needed, only qualified personnel will be assigned in the center who are comfortable with toddlers or youg children. The personnel must love children and can relate well with them. Everything in the center shall be child-friendly including all the facilities and materials used in their activities.

In order to finish the convention center on time, Capitol official promised that the construction works will start as soon as the awarding of the bidder to construct the building is done. Bidding is now underway and the awarding is expected to take place next month.
The proposed Cebu International Convention Center is the phase one of the Cebu Megadome project that the province will undertake. The original design of the project was retained, however the seating capacity of the sports stadium was reduced to allocate more space to the convention facilities, from 16,000 seats to 13,000 seats. The multi-use structure will be the future venue for big events such as concerts, sports activities, exhibitions, among others.

We, Filipino men, seem to have a talent in pleasing our other halves, be it legal or otherwise, to the nth degree for added panache in our copulation rituals. Pleasing our partners anyway we can has become a way of Filipino macho man’s life.
A few weeks ago as I wandered around the downtown, I stumbled upon a bespectacled little elderly man with streaks of gray hair on his head sitting on a low stool by the sidewalk. It was a leisurely stroll on a lazy Saturday afternoon along Osmena Blvd. some two blocks off from Basilica del Sto. Nino when I noticed this man tending to his wares displayed conspicuously in what seemed to be like an open wooden attache case placed upon a high stool.
