Cebu is Groomed as Medical Transcription Hub

Data transcription is a fast-growing outsourcing business in the country. Along with contact centers, data transcription is a sunshine industry in the country absorbing only 1 percent of America’s staggering US$25 billion market.

The country hopes to get a substantial portion of that pie by utilizing its vast pool of graduates of medical-related courses who only either end up employed in low-paying jobs or becoming a domestic helper in Singapore or Hong Kong. There are a lot of graduates in medical and para-medical courses in the country who can be tapped to work as medical transcriptionists, either part-time or full-time depending on the individual’s preference.

Costa del Sol Townhomes Soon To Rise in Lapu-Lapu

Real estate and residential property developments in Cebu, particularly in the suburbs, have been picking up since the financial crisis that hit the country almost a decade ago that subsequently crippled the construction business.

Construction of townhomes, condominiums, commercial buildings, and hotels is now in the upswing following the province’s strong economic growth that fuels strong demand in this sector. Construction boom is back. You would notice that every few hundred meters, you will find building construction at different phases of development. Along with the demand of commercial spaces, residential spaces also pick up as more and more people acquire new wealth either thru employment or family business or thru family members working abroad.

1st World Mixed-Martial Arts Seminar in Cebu

The hottest (and the bloodiest) combat sport the world has ever seen in recent memory is no doubt, the mixed martial arts. MMA, as it is commonly called, is a combat sport in which two competitors attempt to achieve dominance over one another by utilizing a wide variety of permitted martial arts techniques, including striking and grappling.

The popularity of the sport has caught on the hearts of martial artists all over the world. In fact, Grandmaster Ciriaco “Cacoy” Cañete, the world’s best and most renowned eskrimador, has organized the 1st World Mixed-Martial Arts Seminar to be held in Cebu. The event is expected to draw hundreds of martial arts enthusiasts in the country and at least 20 foreigners - mostly Americans and Australians - on February 10-12 at the JY Square Discovery Mall in Lahug.
