Cebu Pacific Offers Seats at P1

That’s impossible, you would say. Ridiculous, even.

The first time you hear the news about an airliner offering a P1 for its seat, you would surely be rolling in the aisles in disbelief. And probably you would walk away and dismiss the news as a joke. But the Cebu-based airline Cebu Pacific Airways is selling its seats at rock-bottom prices, quite literally. If you think it’s just another cheapo gimmick, then pick up your phone and give them a ring to confirm.

Cebu Pacific (CEB), is known as the country’s low-fare pioneer, giving the flag carrier, PAL, a better competition since its first service in early 1994. To strengthen its mission to fly more people to more destinations around the country, it will offer seats at P1 to any of its domestic destinations from March 29 to April 2 or until seats are sold out.

Cebu’s Christopher Go Discover Jupiter’s Red Jr.

It’s quite unlikely for the international space community to look upon an amateur astronomer with utmost respect especially from a third world country. The Philippines is not known for its active participation in the international space studies but not many know that a few groups of amateur astronomers in the country are dead serious about their hobby in space exploration.

One recent honor was bestowed on a Cebuano astronomer, Christopher Go. Go is the first and only Filipino to be invited to join an elite team as a co-principal investigator with the top 10 experts of Jupiter.

Go made headlines in the scientific community across the globe when he discovered the new red spot of Jupiter last Feb. 27. The stunning discovery was quite a surprise to the scientific world that the story was headlined in NASA’s own website and subsequently bannered in almost every major scientific and news media in the world.

PLDT ‘Bilis Kabit’ Promo in Cebu

Before the advent of the mobile phone technology, PLDT was the ‘lord of the rings.’ They literally monopolized the telecommunications industry in Cebu without having any legitimate competition that would challenge its dominance in the business.

So naturally, they acted like Gods. They were so powerful you would think they controlled how and when people can exploit the communication technology Antonio Meucci, not Alexander Graham Bell, invented in mid-19th century.

Today, as the mobile communication and information technology threatens PLDT’’s dominance in the telecommunications business, they have started to shed off their God-like persona, doing whatever they can just to stay on the business they have exploited for decades.
