My Weekend Escapade To Malapascua

MalapascuaFebruary 25, 2006, a Saturday, was a national holiday. It was the 20th anniversary of Edsa 1 Revolution. While Manila was mired in chaotic political rallies as broadcast live on television screens, the people of Cebu, residents and visitors alike, conducted their business as usual as any other ordinary weekends as if nothing happened in the national capital. It might be mistaken for being indifferent, but the truth is, Cebuanos are peace-loving people.

Knowing that February 25 was a non-working holiday, we hatched a plan a week earlier, to set off to Malapascua, an island 8 kilometers off the northernmost tip of Cebu. We chose Malapascua for our short weekend escapade because it fascinates us a lot. You will find out later in this article if that fascination really paid off.
