Yokohama Rubber Company is the seventh largest tire manufacturer in the world and is one of the most recognised names in tire technology.
Based in Tokyo, Japan, Yokohama Tire Corporation has experienced enormous growth since its beginnings in 1969. In 1996, it established a Philippine subsidiary, the Yokohama Tire Philippines, Inc., whose plant and office are located in Clark Special Economic Zone, Clark Field, Pampanga.
At present, YTPI makes passenger car tires with internal diameters of 13 to18 inches and tires for sports utility vehicles, and exports some 90 per cent of those tires to Europe, Middle East and ASEAN countries. Its 10th year anniversary in the country in 2006 will see an expansion in its production capacity to 7 million tires per year starting in September 2006.
