SHS-J Student Off To Math Challenge National Finals

A Cebuano senior high school student from the Sacred Heart School-Jesuit (SHS-J) bested the rest of the math wizards from different schools in the region and get the right to represent the Central Visayas region in the national finals competition in Manila on April 8, 2006.

Kyna Elyse Cheu tops the 4th year individual competition, besting 14 other fourth year high school students from different provinces and cities in region 7. He will receive cash prizes and medals and the right to represent the region in the national finals. His school will receive a trophy from the Metrobank Foundation.

Valuable Cebuanos For 2006 Perlas Awards

The Cebu-based Philippine Foundation Inc. has continued for the past 19 years to recognize and honor individuals who have become role models as valuable Filipinos.

It recently paid tribute tribute to individuals with admirable traits and values who serve as role models to the youth, and to institutions, whose service to the Cebuanos have set the standards for responsibility to the community.

This year’s batch of awardees comprise of a dedicated priest, a fashion icon, a civic leader, a charitable institution, and a children’s choir. The awarding ceremonies were held at the SM Theater 1 in Cebu City on February 28, 2006.
