Mount Everest was Leo’s lifelong Dream

At Everest Base Camp, Art and Leo is planting the Philippine flag on the Filipinos’ piece of real estate on the moving block of ice called the Khumbu Glacier.
Yesterday, I featured Leo Oracion, a resident of Cebu who first climbed the Mt. Everest. Indeed, Leo made it to the top of the world.
Without knowing, Leo is already a national hero. Not just to his family but to the country as well. He brings honor and pride to the country.
“THERE is more to it than just the pride of being the first Filipino to climb Everest.†Niño Abarquez, a fellow adventure racer, a competitor and a close confidante of Heradio “Leo†Oracion in Cebu, said there was a lot of sacrifices behind Oracion’s success in conquering the summit of Mt. Everest.
