Cebu Fil-Am Friendship Grand party

The American Chamber of Commerce, Cebu Chapter hosted its annual Fil-Am Friendship day on July 1 saturday. The Fil-Am Friendship day was supposed to originally been Philippine Independence day. It was this day, July 4, 1946 when Philippines gained independence from the United States after being colonized for almost 50 years. Later, it was legislated that te true Philippine Independence day was on June 12, 1898, the day Philippines declared rebellion and independence from Spain. July 4 as since become Fil-Am Friendship day, but for the last so many years, it ceased becoming a recognized holiday. The Amcham however, continues to celebrate this every year with a huge party. Many American expatriats enjoyed the Grease Musical, the Hollywood theme and the Renaissance Band. Pictures here.

Cebu Pacific to fly to Singapore

CEBU Pacific Air Inc, the airline unit of JG Summit Holdings Inc, said it will resume daily flights between Manila and Singapore starting August 31 after a three-year suspension.

Cebu Pacific said in a statement it will be the first international airline to use Singapore’s new Budget Terminal.

“CEB will be the first international airline to operate from the new Budget Terminal and will be using its brand new Airbus aircraft for the Singapore-Manila service. The flight leaves Manila at 8:30 pm, arriving in Singapore at 11:55 pm and leaves Singapore at 12:40 am the following day to arrive back in Manila at 4:05 am.”. More …

3 billion hotel to be in Mactan Cebu

A well-known hotel chain in Korea will be building a P3-billion five star resort in Lapu-Lapu City.

Proponents of the Imperial Palace Waterpark Resort and Spa held the groundbreaking ceremonies of the project on a 7.5-hectare in Barangay Maribago, in Lapu-Lapu City last Friday.

Construction will begin immediately as the resort is scheduled to open in 2009.
