McDonald’s opens 9th branch in Cebu

TARGETING residents and travelers in the northern part of the province, an international fastfood chain opened its ninth branch in Cebu.

The McDonald’s branch, which is located in Basak, Mandaue City, had its soft opening last Oct. 28. It will have a simultaneous grand opening with the Caltex gasoline station next month. More …

World leaders to converge in Cebu for 12th Asean Leaders’

World leaders from 16 countries will converge in Cebu City in December for the 12th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Leaders’ Summit, the highest decision-making body of the regional economic grouping.

Assistant Secretary Louie Cruz, director general of the Asean Affairs Desk of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), said 10 of the 16 leaders are the heads of state from the member countries of the Asean. Christmas ‘parols’ to brighten major routes of Asean Summit venues

A spirit-filled Christmas atmosphere will liven up Cebu as Christmas lanterns or “parols” colorfully brighten up the streets especially in the ceremonial routes of the Asean summit venues.

In Cebu City, commercial establishments and residents located in major thoroughfares are asked to beautify their immediate surroundings and install Christmas decors and lights to show our foreign visitors the typical Christmas tradition being celebrated in the country. More…

Cebu IT park owner sees more expansion

Cebu Property Ventures and Development Corp., owner of Asiatown IT
Park (AITP) in Lahug, Cebu expects to increase the park’s 5,700 working
population with the recent opening of the Engineering Sciences Building
of the Primary Industrial Properties Corp. (PIPC) and Skyrise Building
of the Skyrise Realty and Development Corp., the company said in a
statement.

PIPC is currently completing its second building with 17,611 square meters of leasable office space.

ASEAN-China, Philippine-China ties

The relationship between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China was one of the most dynamic and progressive in the world since the two sides established a dialogue partnership 15 years ago, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo told Xinhua.

In an interview at the Malacanang Presidential Palace with Xinhua and other Chinese media, Arroyo said she was excited and greatly honored to be visiting China later this month to participate in the celebration of the establishment of the dialogue partnership between ASEAN and China in China’s southwestern city of Nanning. CCCI wins anew outstanding chamber award

FOR the second consecutive year, the Cebu
Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) was again chosen as the Most
Outstanding Chamber in the Philippines by the Philippine Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (PCCI).

In an interview, CCCI president Francis Monera expressed gratitude
to individuals and organizations, including the media, for constantly
supporting the chamber. CCCI bested 110 chambers all over the Philippines.

CCCI won the same award last year and in the years 1995 to 1997, which placed the organization on the Hall of Fame.  More …
