President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo arrives here Sunday night from Hanoi at the end of the two-day 14th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders meeting in the Vietnamese capital.

The President is expected to hold a series of meetings with business leaders in Singapore to drum up investors’ interest in the Philippines as an investment destination.

Many of the leading trading companies operating in the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), including the Philippines, are based in Singapore.

The Philippine military on Friday assured safety of all those who will attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (Asean) Summit next month as it even prepared contingency measures for a possible underwater attack by terrorists.

In a press briefing, Armed Forces public information office chief Lt. Col. Bartolome Bacarro admitted that security forces tasked to oversee the security of the Asean summit have included the underwater attack as a worst case scenario.
