China completes ASEAN cast - INQ7.net
WITH CHINA also sending word that it is coming, officials in charge of ensuring “complete attendance†at the rescheduled Asian summits in Cebu maintain there is no question that the regional meeting will push through this January.
“There’s no more doubt about that; we cannot not proceed,†Ambassador Vic Lecaros, the summit spokesperson, told the Inquirer early last night.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (AHN) - The beleaguered Arroyo administration of the Philippines found an ally as Malaysia on Sunday urged Southeast Asia leaders, as well as partner countries China and Japan, to attend the postponed summit now rescheduled for January in Cebu, Philippines.
Philippine President Gloria Arroyo drew flak, particularly from Japan, after she cancelled the 12 Association of Southeast Asian Nations and East Asian Summits originally scheduled last week. At the time she cited an approaching typhoon as her reason.

Business - $1-M movie hopes to jumpstart Cebu film-making industry - INQ7.net
LAPU-LAPU CITY–The shooting of a one-million-dollar feature film in Cebu would not only boost the local economy, it would also help create the film making industry here.
“We are growing Cebu’s movie industry,” Elliot Tong, producer of the movie “Deep Gold,” says.
Deep Gold is an action thriller about the missing $10-million worth of Philippine gold when the plane carrying it crashes into the seas. It is the maiden offering of New Cebu Films, Bigfoot Entertainment’s new film division.

Next year marks the 40th anniversary of the Asean.
Unlike a young person, Asean doesn’t approach its 40th birthday with apprehension and trepidation. After all, when the five original Founding Fathers of the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand formed Asean on August 8, 1967, majority of them were distrustful of, if not warring with each other, and the lingering effects of colonization and internecine warfare were pervasive. Asean was a child of conflict and the desire of the region’s leaders to resolve conflict through peaceful means.

Asean leaders confirm they’re coming in Jan. - INQ7.net
THE leaders of all 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations members have confirmed that they will attend the rescheduled 12th Asean Summit of Leaders that will take place in Cebu from Jan. 10 to 15, according to the head of the organizing committee.
Only the leaders of Asean’s dialogue partners—China, Japan, India, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand—have yet to reply, said Marciano Paynor, the chief presidential protocol officer, in a radio interview.
