Hilutungan, a real paradise!
Thursday, March 8th, 2007Hilutungan Island, Cordova, Cebu, the Philippines.
Hilutungan is the island and sun beach resort, an affiliate of Cordova Reef in the main island. Across this island, a little further north is the Nalusuan Island which also has its fish sanctuary but mostly of those aquarium-type small colorful fishes. Hilutungan’s sanctuary, which I like most, is the one facing Cordova and has more variety with those meter long fishes. it is a lonely island with accommodating people and wide stretches of shifting sugar-fine white sand. when we came across here last year, i reallty love to stay for a long time.
It is a sun-and-sea destinations every summer (March-May) in Cebu: the island of Hilutungan. The choice is not really for the resort above, which is ridiculously expensive, but for its nearby marine sanctuary where teeming colorful fishes of various sizes literally feed off your hands while snorkelling (bring bread of course). Pumpboat boats could be rented from takeoff points in Mactan between $20-50 for the entire day. Diving or snorkelling fee at the sanctuary is about $1 and is for the island funds and the Dept of Envrionment and Natural Resources which maintain the fabulous marine sanctuary.
It is a real paradise!
