Ng Khai creates after-sales brand

The Freeman

To take care of the growing demand in after-sales service, Ng Khai Development Corporation creates a new brand under its cap for a new range of expanded services.

The company recently came up with the brand name NGineers, which will be the company’s repair specialist arm that will take care of the after-sales or computer repair demands. NGineers will have 70 computer engineers and technicians.

Ng Khai president Wilson Ng said that the company was prompted to strengthen its technology service arm because computer nowadays have grown to become a necessity in every household.

NGineers is the newest addition to Ng Khai’s groups of companies which include NgKhai Solutions for corporate market, chain of NGenius IT Hubs for the retail market, Esprint Software, and lifestyle stores Premium Concepts.

He also added that since owning a PC today has become very affordable, the company anticipates strong demand for repairs and other after sales service just like what happened to the cellphone industry.

Cebu City to host third Philippine bird festival

Birdwatchers from various parts of the country and neighboring countries
will flock to Cebu on September 21 to spread the message of wildlife habitat
conservation and reinforce international efforts to save a rare endemic
species from extinction.

The bird under “death sentence” is the Cebu Flowerpecker, a tiny, blue-black
and white bird with a distinctive red patch on its back. It is unique to the
forests of Cebu and lives nowhere else in the world. If the last remaining
small patches of its forest habitat are not preserved, it will vanish forever.

To increase public awareness of the plight of the critically endangered bird,
the Cebu Flowerpecker has been chosen as the festival logo for the two-day
event with the theme “Just Watch, Don’t Catch!”

The festival opens on September 21 with lectures, photo exhibits, film shows,
art activities and face-painting for kids at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and
Casino. These will be followed by the 2nd Philippine Duck Forum, at which
conservationists and academics will spotlight efforts to save the endangered
endemic species. More…

Crush nako sa eskwelahan

Nganung ikaw pa man ang
gipitik ning dughan?
Nga sa tantong bana-bana ikaw
di ko gyud maapsan
Gibuhat nako ang tanan para
lang mailhan ug
Sa imong ganghaan ako
makit-an.

Pagkaanindot pamaladungon sa
higayon nga ako
Tagdon, daw gustong
mulukso sa kalipay nga
naangkon.
Ang kusog nga kulba sa dughan
di ko gyud
Malikayan, sa higayon nga
ikaw anaa sa akong atubangan.

Makumpleto na ang adlaw kung
ikaw makit-an
Ilabi na gyud kung ikaw
mahilabay sa among
istambayanan.
Kung ikaw di makit-an daw
gustong mosyagit sa
kadaghanan,
Ipa-paging ang imong
ngalan aron ikaw mahipalgan.

Hinaut unta nga crush nko wala
pay tag-iya
Aron pag-abot sa higayon,
crush nako sa eskwelahan ako
untang maangkon.

Top Medical grad from Cebu stays to serve the poor

Many Filipino doctors want to go abroad and earn
dollars but the only Cebuano in the top 10 of the 2007 Physician
Licensure Examination will stay in Cebu, working in a government
hospital.

Dr. Lily Mae Quevedo Dacay, 26, said she preferred working in a
government hospital because she felt she would find great fulfillment
in serving the poor.

Dacay who graduated from the Cebu Doctors’ University in 2006, is
the 8th placer in the Physician Licensure Examination, the results of

Utan Bisaya

“Sinabawang gulay, sarap talaga
Ang bawat higop ay puno ng saya
Sinabawang gulay, sarap namnamin
Lumalakas ako, lahat ay kayang gawin

Makulay (makulay)
Ang buhay (ang buhay)
Makulay ang buhay
Sa sinabawang gulay”

Hmm… sounds familiar?  Of course, who can’t sing the jingle of Knorr. Kung ikaw ang bata ato sigurado malamian jud ka kaon sa utan.

Cebuanos are fun of eating gulay or “utan”.  Why Utan Bisaya?

“Kalabasang puwa, kalabasang puti, sikwa, gabi, okra , tawong, batong, kamunggay, agbati, sibuyas bombay, kamatis, subak nga piniritong isda nga gikunis-kunis (fried fish flakes). Each of which are cut into bite size except for agbati and kamunggay. For these two, only their leaves and udlot (tips) are included. The fish flakes and the vegetables are then boiled together (but for best results, the gabi should be very soft before the other vegetables are dropped in). Kamunggay and agbati are the last to be cooked. Boil and simmer in plain water. And voila! You get the most “lami-an nga Utan Bisaya” (literally means “most delicious Bisayan vegetable stew”)!”
