Motorshow Cebu International

Set at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC), the “Motorshow Cebu International” will showcase its grandiose motors and cars exhibit(not just this toys, but girls too!) on October 16-21,2007.    This event is managed by the Philippine Exhibitions and Trade Corp. (Petco).

FOR the longest time, the absence of a huge venue for big shows was a huge setback for Cebu. Despite its impressive performance as an investment and tourism destination, Cebu’s lack of facilities to host large-scale indoor and outdoor events left many show organizers no other recourse but to mount big projects only in Manila.

This was the case of the first-ever Motorshow Cebu International in 1989. More.

Keep the Fort

Cebu is one of the best tourist destinations in the Philippines. A “Queen City of the South” marks its rich in history and culture.  You can find lots of firsts and best of the bests. Foods, places and historic landmarks.

One historic places you can find is the Fort San Pedro (near Pier1).  It was rainy Sunday afternoon, when my friends and I decided to visit Fort San Pedro for a photo shoot.  It’s a nice location indeed for a picnic–uhmm picnic?  Noh!  Did i say picnic?  Uh we’ll what can you do to a beautiful garden, castle-like and peaceful? Is it a nice location for a picnic, right?  Fort San Pedro is an ideal place for picnic yet it’s considered as a National Treasure by the Philippine Government.  It is said built on 1565 by the Spaniards to keep a lookout for pirates, has also served as prison during the Philippine revolution, as US Army barracks and city zoo. Today, the fort has been turned into a park or museum where visitors can have a little more information about Cebu history. Keep the Fort, keep our history.

Just watch, don’t catch

Birdwatchers from all over the Philippines and neighboring countries will flock to Cebu on Sept. 21 to spread the gospel of wildlife habitat conservation and reinforce international efforts to save a rare island species from extinction.

The bird under “death sentence” is the Cebu Flowerpecker, a tiny, blueblack and white bird with a distinctive red patch on its back. It is unique to the forests of Cebu and exists nowhere else on the planet. Birdwatchers contend that if the last remaining small patches of the Flowerpecker’s forest habitat are not preserved, the breed will vanish forever. More.

Europeans to visit Central Visayas for a diving expedition

The Freeman

The Diving hotspots in the Visayas have caught the interest of European divers, as 65 of them will be coming to Cebu in November to experience the good diving areas here.

This was announced by the National Association of Independent Travel Agencies (Naitas) chairman Robert Lim Joseph, in a press conference held Saturday night at the Ralph’s restaurant.

According to Joseph, these high-end European divers will hit the waters of Bohol, Apo Island in Dauin, Oriental Negros and they will make Cebu as its gateway to reach these places.

Joseph said Naitas will be getting good deals with business hotels here in Cebu, either Marco Polo Plaza Hotel or Holiday Plaza, as these divers are requesting to stay at a business hotel in Cebu, before they will kick off with the diving expedition in Bohol and Oriental Negros.
