Be the next DOST scholar

The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) is now accepting applications for its Junior College S&T Scholarship.

The scholarship is given to 3rd year college students who are currently enrolled int he science and technology courses. 

Eligible applicants must have a general weighted average of at least 83%; currently enrolled in any of the satte colleges and universities under Science and Technology; a Filipino Citizen; have no pending immigration application and a resident of the municipality in the last four years.

Interested applicant may get an application f orm from DOST Regional Office located at M.J. Cuenco Avenue, Banilad, Cebu City.  Deadline of submission of application is on Sept. 21, 2007.  Please call Rodel Maningo at 231-7024 for other details.

Durano to lead Tourism fair at CICC Cebu

On September 5-7, Tourism Secretary Joseph “Ace” Durano will lead the guests during the
opening ceremonies of the 1st Philippine International Tourism Fair
(PITF) at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City on
September 5.

Almost 150 foreign buyers of travel packages – tour operators,
travel specialists and corporate executives – and owners and executives
of local resorts, hotels, medical tourism hospitals, golf courses and
other tourism-oriented establishments will join the event.

More than 300 corporate buyers are expected to transact business with tour providers and foreign buyers/wholesalers.More inq7.net

Naga: Cebu’s newest city

    An industrial city will soon rise in southern Cebu.

Naga is the third town in Cebu to become a city this year, bringing to six the total number of component cities in Cebu. The first was Bogo, which was converted into a city on June 16, and Carcar town on July 1.

The other component cities in the province are Toledo, Danao, Talisay.

Although the plebiscite in Naga went without hitches, the turnout was low at 32 percent, which meant that only 14,633 of the 44,643 registered voters in Naga went out of their homes to cast their votes. More…
