Carcar fiesta to feature Kabkaban festival

    A fiesta procession called the Kabkaban Festival of Carcar 2007 will highlight the fiesta celebration of Carcar, Cebu on Nov. 24.

The procession will feature the life and martyrdom of the town’s patron saint, St. Catherine of Alexandria.

Four carrozas carrying life-size religious statues will respectively depict the Emperor’s marriage proposal to Catherine, the Broken Wheel, Catherine’s beheading and the transport of her body by angels to Mt. Sinai in Egypt.

More than 100 dancers from the St. Catherine College of Carcar wearing colorful costumes and specially designed lantern headgear and carrying hand lights will illuminate the procession route. Inq.net

Brussels, Belgium wants to be sister province of Cebu

The government of Brussels, Belgium wants to be a sister province of Cebu.

Brussels Gov. Dominique Paulus de Chatelet plans to visit Cebu in January, in time for the Sinulog.

If plans push through, a “sisterhood agreement” may be signed by then, said lawyer Manolette Dinsay, Capitol consultant on promotions and international affairs.

“Barring any extraordinary circumstances, I don’t see any reason why not,” said Dinsay of a possible signing of an agreement. More…
