New clean coal-fired power plant opens in Cebu

The new clean coal-fired power plant in Cebu is now operational.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo led the switched-on of the first of three units of the 246 megawatts power plant at barangay Daanlungsod, Toledo City, Cebu on March 5, ushering in the advent of a new and clean coal-fired power plant technology in Central Visayas.

Using the latest circulating fluidized bed (CFB) technology, the project ensures proper discharge of commonly feared emissions and wastes of coal-fired power plants at practically negligible levels. Read more…
