They were not there for the holy child, but to witness an attempt of a five-year-old boy that could possibly place him in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Justin Junio had to overcome the cold waters, the strong current and the sorry state of the murky waters to successfully cross the Mactan Channel. The feat, if approved, will make him the youngest swimmer to cross a channel, expelling the current holder from Arizona, USA. More…

With the exponential growth of spa and wellness centers in Cebu, operators and owners of this lucrative business trend is now having a problem getting the right people for the job. More and more Cebuanos are getting health-conscious these days that going to the spa and other welness establishments is no longer a luxury, but a necessity to boost their mental, physical, and emotional health.
However, owners of spa centers are now seeing the shortage of qualified health workers who are competent enough to perform jobs related to health and well-being of their customers. They notice that some of the best-qualified nurses and occupational therapists and care-givers prefer to work abroad due to better financial rewards, leaving behind those who are ill-equipped and inexperience.

Around 400 Fil-Americans with Cebuano roots will be coming home to witness the 2006 Sinulog festivities. Councilor Edgardo Labella recently went to the United States to attend a conference of sister cities in Spokane, Washington and subsequently paid a courtesy visit to Seattle, Cebu City’s sister city.
Labella said that the association of Cebuanos in Seattle is currently negotiating for a charter flight that would take Fil-Americans to Cebu for the Sinulog celebration. Most of the Cebuanos in Seattle are reportedly in the medical profession, majority of them are nurses.
The Sinulog has continuously served as the Cebuano’s major expression of devotion to the Sto. Niño and is believed to be the most effective way of getting favors from the Sto. Niño.
Aside from attending the Sinulog, tourists, especially those who visit Cebu for the first time may also visit Mactan, Badian, Malapascua, and Camotes Islands, the places that are famous for their white sand beaches and coral reefs; the Olango Wildlife Sanctuary which supports the largest concentration of migratory birds found in the country; and the Nonoc Cave in Borbon, 83 kms. north of Cebu City, which offers picturesque sceneries.
