Cebu’s newest

Thursday, October 4th, 2007
In month’s time, a new shopping and entertainment destination, and an avenue for visual artists, will sweep the Cebuano market, in response to the growing demand for great shopping options and a laid-back social venue.

One Mango Avenue will soon rise at Cebu’s prime uptown spot along Gen. Maxilom Avenue, near Fuente Osmeña Circle. The 6,000 square-meter site with a floor area of more than 1,000 square meters used to be an ancestral house owned by the Cañizares. According to Allister “Lester” G. Cañizares, Cebu Super Development Corp. manager, One Mango conforms to a zoning concept with diverse tenants , thus, each floor will be intended for specific tenants. The Freeman

Clubbing in Cebu

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Cebu’s nightlife has always been laid back.  People were content to head out to the beach or the mountains, or simply troop to friend’s houses even, cases of beer and tons of munches in tow.  But, gone are those days.
In place is a clubbing scene that has evolved through the years.  In the mid-90s, “clubbin” was practically unheard of.  Back then, it was all about the disco.  A club was always referred to as a disco.  A club then was for old geezers and always had a hint of sleaze.

Everyone trooped to BAI at the Cebu Plaza Hotel (now Marco Polo).  Towards thelater part of the 90’s, there sprouted a number of notable venues that became more aptly known as clubs.  There was DTM (Don’t Tell Mama)- the original “warehouse type” club at the North Reclamation Area, Zero Below at A.S. Fortuna, and Fuel at the Village Courtyard in IT Park.

Bisrock bands come together for first-of-its-kind album, concert on Christian, civic virtues

Make way for a different kind of rock concert. One with a heroic Christian perspective, that is.

Eleven Bisaya rock (more popularly known as Bisrock) bands have pooled in efforts and teamed up to stage a first-of-its-kind concert on August 25, 2007, Saturday, 7 p.m. at New Cebu Coliseum to launch the CD-album on Heroic Christian Citizenship or the 12 civic virtues.

The concert dubbed as “Nasud Ko” is conceptualized and organized by the Dilaab Movement to promote the album—the content and making of which have taken inspiration from the “12 Little Things Every Filipino Can Do to Help Our Country,” a phenomenal book written by Atty. Alex Lacson.

The “Nasud Ko” album is also produced by Dilaab Foundation, Inc.

For this Saturday’s concert, tickets are sold at P30 each and are available in Dilaab office located at St. Jerome Bible Center, Seminario Mayor de San Carlos, Juan Luna Ave., Mabolo, Cebu City. For more information, please call 412-7572, 231-9546 or text at +63920-9257335, or email, info@dilaab.net.

Young entrepreneur brews Café Volere

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

Young, fresh and beyond-the-usual; are only a few adjectives that can best describe the newest coffee shop in town and the young entrepreneur behind it.

Serving more than just your usual plain and ordinary coffee, Café Volere offers a wide array of quality food from pizza, pasta, lasagna, macaroni and selected pastries truly inspired by the Italian character of good food and quality value.

“Volere” actually meant “like” in Italian. And just the same, the coffee shop literally is set to become a trendy hang-out which coffee-lover customers would come to like.

Owned and operated by 22-year old Kingsley Ko, a CIE Business Administration student; the café posts several advantages as it adheres to fresh ideas that only someone young and open to newer marketing trends and perspectives could appreciate. More…

What Do you say about Cebu?

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

Have you heard about the Magellan’s Cross?  Or the Taoist Temple?  The Sto. Niño Basilica Church?  The Bantayan Beach or the Olanggo Island?  Plantation Bay or Shangri-la Mactan Island Resort and Spa? The Cebu International COnvention Center or the Marcelo Fernan  Bridge? Or the famous Sinulog Mardigras celebration? These are only few of the major tourist destinations/attractions when you come here in Cebu.

I gathered some personal experiences that made them loved about Cebu.  Here are some stories that you wil be able to know why Cebu is a good destination for vacation, a leisure or for business.

Cathy Ongking. The fourth largest island of the Philippines, Cebu is one of the prime tourist attractions when going to the Philippines. Cebu, I discovered with amusement and wonder is a surprising paradox.

On one end, Cebu is known for its pristine white beaches where one can simply relax and enjoy the view. Cebu is also an excellent choice for scouting scuba diving spots located along the city’s surrounding area. When I went there with my cousins last year, we stayed at the Mactan Shangri-la Hotel and true enough, inside the hotel, there already boasts a spectacular view of the beach where tourists have flocked to view the breathtaking scenery either thorough parasailing, jet skiing, or simply walking around and admiring the splendor of it all. An aerial view of Cebu offers a glimpse of the next island, Bohol as well. Although many people still prefer to see the breadth of all Cebu has to offer and island hop using boats and ferries

Mic from Phoenix. The diving in Cebu is some of the best the Philippines has to offer! White sand beaches! Hotel accomodations are great as well! Nightlife there is always hopping!

Cebu is one of the most friendly places on earth, bar none! I have spent my life traveling the world and found Cebu to be like a home away from home. The people are friendly and very helpful.

From Boston,USA Visitor. people are great and hospitality.this city is incredible.many historical places and you’ll love it.the city is not so traffic compare to manila.just visit cebu and you know the answer of what i’m talking about.

Share your Cebu stories here?  Let the whole world know that Cebu is the best…Enjoy!
